Gastronomic specialities:

Pâté with potatoes, ‘pompe aux grattons’ (a special salted cake), andouillette from Saint-Pourçain.

Local drinks:

White, rosé and red wines of Saint-Pourçain ; waters from Saint-Yorre and Vichy-Célestin.

To see:

Rose garden of the Abbey of Sept-Fons, Safari park Percières Le Pal at Dompierre, the castle of Toury, swimming pool (10 min. by foot from the base).

Information on the waterways

Waterways:

The Canal de Roanne à Digoin is open daily from 9am to 12pm and from 1 to 6pm, except for the 1st November.

The locks on the Canal latéral à la Loire and Canal du Nivernais are open daily from 9am to 12pm and from 1 to 7pm. Most of them are manual with lock keepers. Closed on the 1st Mayand 14th July, on 1st November only on the Canal latéral à la Loire.

On the Nivernais, the boats are accompanied by a lock keeper for several locks (from March to June and in September and October). In July and August, there is a lock keeper at each lock.
